PVAF 'In Transit' Exhibition

This is the 'In Transit' exhibition held at the Birnam Institute. Well done to the committee who organised a fantastic forum; feeling a little envious of the Perthshire artists who have easy access to this great facility.

Greylag goose

Paddy

What a handsome pup!

PVAF Project

I have finished my piece to be included in an exhibition called 'In Transit' held by the Perthshire Visual Arts Forum at the Birnam Arts Centre from 8th - 28th October. We have been asked to respond to the concept of connection, of travel, journey, or physically or mentally bridging gaps and opening lines of connection. I have developed a piece from drawings of greylag geese which hold strong connections with me and my home county of caithness.

Lewis first day at school!

Lewis Gallacher aged nearly 5 going to Newtonmore Primary School on his rainy first day, (standing in new conservatory). What's mum and Sam going to do now? (Also dad's first day at his new work - who's the most nervous?!)

The pictures are up!

Untitled

Haven't yet got a title for this, any suggestions...?

Pleated lace brooch

This is a brooch from the collection I made for The Victoriana Exhibition at RBSA in 2007.

Wolf

Eskimo

I have now confirmed the date for my exhibition, it will start on 4th August 2008. As yet there is no end date. This is Eskimo, a Tundra Reindeer. He has fabulous antlers that don't fall off when they should do, poor Eskimo can't participate in the rutting season!

Moonwalk 2008

Here I am in front of the big pink tent before we and 12,000 others, set off on our midnight, 26 mile jaunt round Edinburgh. A very cold night where only the mad went without warm layers! That bra took 3 nights to make and 25 metres of ribbon! each loop hand stitched. 8 hours later, a 40 minute wait for a toilet and a beautiful sunrise we finished with a very impressive blister on the sole of my foot but generally in a good mood! For those of you who don't know my friend Nicola, she invited a few friends along to join her (approx. 20!) to raise funds as her mum Jean, is fighting the battle of Breast Cancer. If you like you can still sponsor me, just go to www.justgiving.com/lindseygallacher An excellent thing to take part in, and hard going but when you cross the finish line it's fantastic. It's definately not a 'jolly' as many of the poor people escorted back in the ambulance will tell you and our Marathon runner friends have said it's mentally more difficult

Birch trees

Thought I'd add a picture of birch trees since the pollen in getting up my nose justnow!

Eagle Owl

Another work in progress, I like the shadows cast by the afternoon sun.

Lapwing

This is one of my favourite birds.

Paddy has arrived!

This is our new pup called Paddy only 7 weeks old. A Patterdale Terrier and the height of nonsense!
The Capercaillie has finally been attached to it's final resting place! It's taken a lot of trial and error to find the right surface to show off the wire - difficult when the bird is black and so is the wire. One of the monkeys grabbing a bite to eat. They really are the most difficult animals I've drawn as they do not stop for a second!

Feeding time for the Snow Monkeys

Just trying out some ideas for framing etc
We stumbled across these recently on a visit home. They were created by school children using the rubbish washed up on Dunnet Beach in Caithness.

Fine Silver Pleated Brooch

This is a brooch made recently that is made of Fine Silver. I've developed a technique where Icrease the silver to create the look of fabric.

The big one's done!

Capercaillie, drawn at the Wildlife Park then recreated using blackened iron wire - barely have the use of my fingers now!

View from our window

A' Chailleach looking splendid!
This is Xeppo, one of the Forest Reindeer

Feeding time

The Stag spends all day keeping the females in check, but the second they see food they're off!
Something a little different from my usual!

Today's Drawing

A quick sketch of one of the wolves
This is my workshop where it all happens, jewellery, drawings, paperwork ...

Happy Easter

Our creation for today!
I've scanned this drawing in then used paintshop to add a bit of colour. I entered this picture into the National Park exhibition - the Folk Park is our boys most popular place to visit (every week if they had their choice!)
Some test pieces of the bison - work in progress!

Capercaillie

These pictures are made from iron jewellery binding wire. Although it is an easy metal to use, it does have a mind of it's own! If possible, I like to use one continuous piece of wire to make the whole piece. More complicated pictures require numerous lengths of wire.
